Present position: Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Sultana Gulshana Banu is also working in Kidney Foundation Hospital and Research Institute, Dhaka, Bangladesh as Consultant, Histopathology and Cytology (part time).
She began her career as a pathologist (Histopathology & Cytology) in 2005 after completing her postgraduation on the mentioned speciality in BSMMU. She joined in the Department of Pathology, Dhaka Medical College, as a Lecturer in January, 2005 and worked till July, 2006. Then she joined the Department of Pathology, BSMMU, as an Assistant Professor. In 2012, she was promoted to Associate Professor.
Dr. Banu joined Kidney Foundation Hospital and Research Institute, Dhaka in 2014 as a part time Consultant of Histopathology and Cytology.
During her postgraduation (MD course), she carried out her thesis on Renal Pathology and was actively involved in renal biopsy reporting. In her career as a pathologist, she is teaching, guiding researches and reporting Histopathology & Cytopathology with special interest on medical renal diseases and other renal pathologies.
Dr. Banu took training on Histopathology & Cytopathology in Singleton Hospital, Sketty, Swansea, UK in 2005 and on Renal Pathology in Arkana Laboratories, Little Rock, Arkansas, USA in 2018.
She attended many conferences and symposia on Renal Pathology at home and abroad. She has twenty three scientific publications among which eight are written on renal pathology or related topics.
